Drinks Made Easy Presents: How to make a gin martini.
You will need the following:
2 1/2 oz Gin (because this is a GIN Martini)
a splash of Dry Vermouth
a garnish of your choice (olives or onions). We are using Olives.
First of all we would like to note that this is the way many restaurants prepare the Gin Martini, so perhaps we should call it the Restaurant style Martini, but due ranking and visibility we're calling it the classic.
It is a good idea to chill your Martini glass before you start the process. You can do this by filling your glass with ice and adding water. Let it stand for about a minute then dump the water/ice mixture into a sink or dump bucket. In the chilled glass, put a splash of your Dry Vermouth into the glass and give a few twirls. Discard the Vermouth leaving only the essence behind. You can leave the splash in if you desire (that approaches the "classic" Martini). It can take the edge a little more off the Gin, but it cuts into the Currant flavor. Next pour your 2 1/2 oz. of Gin into your shaker (a 10 count if you are using a pour spout), cover and shake for 10-30seconds. Some think you can bruise the Gin if you shake it too long. The Jury is still out on that. Basically shake no less than 10 seconds and you really don't need much more than 45 seconds. Finally, pour the cold gin into your chilled Martini glass and there you go...Your own Martini.
